This is for my [brothers]with daughters – Nas

I gave away my umbrella today. One has to be crazy to give away your shield from the rain. But I did. The young man looked a little younger than me but his daughter looked just like mine. They both travelled in my direction in the rain both of their heads covered by coats and hats. I said: take my umbrella, I have a daughter too, it’s raining hard.
He said: no thank you, we are going towards the train, we will be good. I said: cool. But it wasn’t cool because I started to think the train station is a ways off in this weather and what happens when he gets off the train wherever he gets off and baby girl could get sick.
I am under the weather. I was a little stuffy the day before I ran into dude who has a daughter who looks just like mine. Pride would not get in the way. He would take my umbrella as sure as I was going to offer it again.
I turned around. The light by 233 and whatever that street is that crosses before dyre held him up. I said: here. Take it. She will get sick if you don’t . He said: thanks as I placed it in his hand.
Pastor Keith Morris told me that God gives us illustrations everyday. I learned three things:
1) we become bold when we have something we believe others can’t do without even temporarily
2) compassion should springs from us when we think about not only the benefits of sharing what we have but how others will be affected if we don’t
3) I don’t think it hurt that I was able to place myself in the shoes of the young man who has a daughter who looks like mine.
Give something away and do not take no for an answer
